These two photos show the hatch covers taken from up on the bridge wing.

The left photo shows the hydraulic Staffa motor. On the right photo X and Y show new design brackets to prevent fractures found on earlier hatch covers of this type.
     
Hatch cosming at No 1 hatch  
These photos are taken forward of No.1 hatch. Due to this hatch coaming being lower than the others one additional wheel fitted and the trackway is in two sections to allow access.
On the right is an additional ventilator which can also be used for spout loading.
 
     

Pressure relief valve at No.4 hold

 
The left photo shows the pressure release valve fitted to floodable hold No.4. The right photo shows the air vent which is fitted to all hatches.

The two photos above show the emergency pump for operating hatches in case of failure of the main hydraulic pumps. It is driven by a Honda petrol engine.

The photo on the right shows the hatch jack at No.1 hatch in the up position.
B is the pin required when using the emergency pump.
