Installing the main engine B&W 7 cylinder 7K80GF

The engine was assembled at Burmeister and Wain's engine test shop in November and December 1976, and I attended several times. The engine was run on test on 2nd January 1976 and was accepted by Norske Veritas.
After this the engine was dismantled and transported to the shipyard, where it was re-assembled.

The engine here weighs 585 tons. The tie bolts have not yet been fitted and the lifting wires pass down through these holes .

The engine was lowered down into hold No.7 and then moved forward into the engineroom as the bulkhead had not yet been fitted.

The photo on the right shows the engine just about to pass into the engineroom.
The top of the red steelwork at the bottom of the photo where the man is standing will be just about below the height of the engine middle platform when the engine is in its final position.
