Keith Pearson
I have only just found this website and how interesting it is.
I joined Reardon Smiths in 1956 as a Radio Officer after two whole years sailing on a pilgrim ship in the Indian Ocean, thanks to the Marconi company. I then applied for a position with Reardon Smiths and I well remember the Radio Superindentent, Frank Sully, interviewing me for the job in the Mount Stuart Square offices. He then gave me a ten shilling note to "get a meal and a newspaper" on my journey back to Coventry! That settled it , Reardon Smiths were for me.
Between 1956 and 1962 I served on The Eastern City, Madras City, Welsh City, Queen City, Bradford City, Houston City, Welsh City again, and then the "Devon City" in 1961.
Captain Picton-Davies was the master of the Devon and I think Tony Lightfoot was the 2nd mate.
When I "swallowed the anchor" I joined the former Herefordshire Constabulary and then retired from the West Mercia Constabulary as a Chief Inspector.
