Albert Geoffrey Hodgson - "Geoff"

It's with great sadness that the family of Geoff Hodgson announce his passing. Geoff aged 71 passed away suddenly at home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Dad served with RSL for the first 15 years of his marine career. He shared lots of fond memories of both his time at sea and those he worked alongside.
If anyone has any photos or memories they could share it would be greatly appreciated.
Dad's funeral is 10am Monday 29th January 2018 at Christchurch Seaham. Emma Clarke. Posted on Forum 24 January 2018.

Dear Emma, Very Sorry to hear of the recent passing of your Father, Geoff.
He was a good shipmate and a very good engineer. I sailed with him in mid 1970 on the maiden voyage of the Prince Rupert City, when I was 3/O and he was 3/E, under Captain Mark Higgins. Amongst a few other officers, we stood by the ship for a month or so in Glasgow while she was fitting out before completion, before doing the full voyage together, including the grounding in the Mississippi, after our first loading upriver from New Orleans.
I am sorry that I have no photos of that trip, as I lost all my seagoing photos a few years ago.
My thoughts are with you and your family at this sad time.
All Best Wishes. Graham Mapplebeck. Posted on Forum 25 January 2018.

Dear Emma,
Saddened at learning of the passing of your Father,Geoff
I sailed with him on the "Welsh City" in 1971;he was 3rd Eng and I was J/4 Eng.
A hard working Engineer and good company both on and off the ship and a sense of humour which, considering the voyage we had,was always to the fore.
Abiding memory of Geoff, myself and (the not so small)Ron Glendinning being pedalled around the sites (from bar to bar!!)of Singapore by a rickshaw wallah who probably weighed no more than six and a half stones soaking wet!We pushed that rickshaw more than sat in it!
Also invited to the wedding of Geoff to your Mother along with Dave Senior,Ron Glendinning,Rob Worgan and Richard Ash and you can be assured that they were given a good send off to their married life!!A good day and a happy day.
Alas I cannot be with you tomorrow but my thoughts will be with you and your family as Geoff takes his final voyage. Best wishes. Mike Snook. Posted on Forum 28 January 2018.
