John Richardson

I started my MN engineering career with Reardon Smiths in 1960 sailing on Eastern City (old Doxford with engine driven pumps), then Devon City, and finally two trips on the King City. They were all long trips, but enjoyable. I ended up as 3rd Eng on King City, then joined Palm Line for the shorter trips, I was there for 10 yrs ending up as Chief Eng.

I sailed twice with Graham Fennel ( he was nicknamed Basil) and my memories of Devon City apart from Graham, are of John Reardon Smith, who did a trip in the engine room as cadet. I have fond memories of Lionel Wainwright Chief Eng, a brilliant engineer. I remember the electrian was called Nooky Brown.
