Am still alive and living at the moment in the Philippines where the beer, ciggys and women are cheap. Since retiring have done different work mainly surveying. From 2004 to 2009 resided in Hong Kong working for a local company surveying.
Transferred to Philippines in 2009 and continued surveying for a local company. Have found that with all the new equipment on the bridge navigation skills are unsatisfactory. Most deck officers cannot even take compass errors.
Undertaking surveys on Philippine coastal ships is not good as end up with pages of defects.
Cannot retire otherwise my brain will stop functioning.
